Currently in Ontario, there are almost 1600 people waiting for a life-saving organ transplant and unfortunately every 3 days, someone will die while waiting. While more than 90% of Ontarians are in favour of organ donation, only 1 in 3 (35%) of people have registered their consent to donate. The Ottawa Hospital is committed to doing our part by spreading the word of the importance of organ and tissue donation throughout April, which is recognized as Donor Month. Registering can be done online in just two minutes. This year, our campaign goal is to reach 100 registrations! Registering to be a donor might be the greatest gift you ever give.
